Gilbert is split between two districts, and the boundary confuses newcomers constantly. Gilbert Public Schools covers the older western and central town including Gilbert High and Mesquite. Higley Unified covers the eastern and southeastern growth areas, including Higley High and Williams Field. Both issue devices, and both have the same near-work load.
